Typeface Art Object

This assignment was a bit of a challenge and I used a 8.5 by 11 inch Adobe Illustrator document. I was expected to produce an animal/object out of the letters out of the name of the animal/object by using the font tool and either flipping or rotating the letters. I couldn't warp the text at all in this project. My final project has the letters "I" and "K" for the outline of the the shoe and the letters of the word "Nike Shoe" within the shoe filling it up with the color and the swoosh symbol. I used the Elements of Art by using color and shape. I used color by filling in the shoe with pink and blue using the letters out of "Nike Shoe" and the color yellow to create the outline of the swoosh logo and the outline of the middle part of the shoe.  I used shape by creating a half circle for the front and a little bit of the bottom of the shoe. I kind of made a rectangle for the bottom side of the shoe. I used the Principles of Design by using balance and repitition. I used balance by trying to make the letter "I'' even to give it that shoe shape look. I used repetition by using the letters "I" and "K" over again to create the outline of the shoe and the other letters in the word "Nike Shoe" to fill up the color of the shoe. My final design does look like my sketch because if you were to hold up my sketch next to my final design, you would see the accuracy. The only difference is is that I used the letter "K" at the top of my shoe instead of the letter "I"

Day 3
Day 4

Typeface

These assignments are very colorful. They are on an 8x11 inch document. Most of the letters/words are fancy looking. I was expected to produce three 8x11 inch Photoshop documents by using specific tools in Photoshop CS3. I had to use the letters in my first, middle, and last name and create some sort of illusion art with the letters in each of my name by either rotating or flipping the letters. I also had to use either warm/cool, monochromatic, and free colors .My final products were neat and fancy, except for the one with my last name. I used the “Hobo Std” font for my first name, "Black Chancery" font for my middle name, and “Academy Engraved” for my last name.

I used the Elements of Art by using space and color. I used space so that my letters didn't look too clumped up but at the same time enough space where you can barely read it. I used color by using cool colors such as blue, a light violet color, and teal for my middle name. I used a variety of colors for my first name and for my middle name I used monochromatic colors such as black brown, and tan for my last name. I used the Principles of Design by using balance. I used balance so that it could give it that fulfill neat look but everything isn’t all on one line. For example, in my middle name I made the letter "B" huge while the letter "R" is on the bottom of letter "B" hooked at the end while rotated but it's still balanced .My final designs do not look like my sketch because in order for my letters to fit completely on the whole document, I had to do different rotations with some of my letters.

College & Career Banner

This assignment was a 72 by 20 inch document with lots of gradients, silhouette shadows, and words on it. I was expected to produce a 72 by 20 inch Photoshop document of a banner for the "Christine M.Sykes College & Career Center" at Oxon Hill High School by using specific tools in Photoshop CS3. My final product had a photo of a college in the background at a low opacity with a gradient color of orange with a yellow strip going diagonally down the middle over top so you can still see the college in the background. I had two silhouettes of a graduating student on each side with the Oxon Hill logo at the top next to the words "Welcome to the Christine M.Sykes College and Career Center", which was in the middle of the banner. I also had a silhouette of a group of students down at the bottom and another silhouette of a two men sitting at a table discussing something.

I used the Elements of Art by using space, color, and value. I used space by giving the pictures and words a specific spot on the poster so it would look neat and not all jumbled up. I used color by using an orange and yellow gradient for the background of the banner. I used value by giving the gradient a specific shade of color, not too dark and not too light. I used the Principles of Design by using balance to make sure everything was lined up straight and in order. My final design doesn’t accurately represent my sketch because I made a few changes. Instead of using the graduation cap in the top left corner, I used the silhouette of the graduating student on both sides. I also didn’t use Christine M. Sykes photo on the banner at all.
